Pim Bergkamp developed his love for radio at the age of 15. Our best guess is that his first ‘serious’ efforts must have been shortly afterwards. But what became of a young boy whose radio ambitions were too great for the small town in which he lived?
Counterpoint Hi Freak FM
At the end of 1986 the opportunity presented itself. Counterpoint FM, a brand new radio station in Amsterdam, started on 90.6FM. This was the station he had been waiting for, this was the station he wanted to be a part of and in February 1987 he embarked on a new radio career. Counterpoint started as a hit radio station, but as the decade progressed, so did the format. Counterpoint HiFreakFM switched to an ‘urban’ format. This is when Pim started as presenter of the ‘Counterpoint Digital Trax’, a weekly chart show that aired every Sunday afternoon. Pim also worked for other Amsterdam FM radio stations such as Hot FM and Dance FM. Today, after doing his bit for various web stations, he has finally found a home, here on Amsterdam Funk Channel. It’s a huge opportunity to combine all musical paths so far.
On-Air Times: Every Sunday evening from 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM (Quiet Storm).
