Lesley Jones
Lesley Jones is founder and father of Amsterdam Funk Channel. He started AFC in October 2010 from the well-known attic room. The ‘entire station’ ran from a single PC.
Radiography
Lesley has been active in the radio scene since the eighties. He once started in IJmuiden, at Impact Radio, Horizon, and Discount Hi-Freak FM, among others, while Counterpoint existed next to it. Lesley was active in the radio scene until the mid-1990s, but that slowly changed into a a busy life in the hospitality industry, and playing in clubs and at festivals.
In 2007 he picks up radio making again and until 2010 Lesley could be heard on Danceradio, formerly Danceradio992, where he usually played his beloved classics, on the ‘Classic Sunday’ created by him and Zar, which concept they have taken with them to AFC.FM. Jones is an avid classics enthusiast, collector, New Jack Swing and Old School (Electro-) Funk Freak. He is an exuberant, cheerful and enthusiastic presenter, and also plays in clubs, which he has been doing since 1988! Today in the clubs he plays a blend of funky tech house, melodic techno and house. On the radio he prefers to play (exclusive) soul, funk and dance classics, New Jack Swing and 80’s Soul & R&B.
DJ & Producer Lesley Jones
Lesley has also been playing in clubs at home and abroad since the late 1980s. He is also a producer on his own Technoliq Recordings label. Well with a different music style than here at Amsterdam Funk Channel. Namely more solid house, tech house, deep house and melodic techno. For more info, check www.les-ley.com
